Instagram is shaking things up again. Your Story Highlights are moving.
Soon, these highlights will be moved from their current spot above your profile grid to their very own dedicated tab (just like the tabs you have for Reels and Tagged that exist already).
The New Display
It is being said that the new Story Highlights tab will feature a rounded heart icon, making it easy to locate.
Within this tab, each of your Story Highlights will have its own vertical thumbnail image, categorised by topic.
Instagram’s Perspective
Adam Mosseri, Instagram’s chief, shed light on this transformation, emphasising the platform’s goal to enhance user profiles and streamline content visibility.
“We’re trying to figure out a way to improve the profile and get more of the content above the fold, and simplify it […] You will still have control, you can still pin things, there’ll be a dedicated Highlights tab…”
User Interaction
While the new layout may result in changes to how users engage with your Story Highlights, Instagram’s focus remains on improving user experience and streamlining profile aesthetics.
This change aligns with evolving user preferences and aims to strike a balance between visual appeal and functionality.
