Facebook Rivals LinkedIn with New ‘Job Offer’ Feature

Date: 11 November 2016

Facebook Rivals LinkedIn with New 'Job Offer' FeatureEver thought you could like your friend’s baby photos, update your status and apply for a job all on one social media platform? Well soon you can…

Facebook is currently testing functionality that could rival and unsettle LinkedIn. It was announced yesterday that Facebook will allow business page administrators to create job postings and receive applications from candidates.

LinkedIn currently makes most of its revenue from recruiters paying for job adverts and headhunting. Could this move from Facebook be damaging to the current B2B platform?

A spokesperson from Facebook said “Based on behaviour we’ve seen on Facebook, where many small businesses post about their job openings on their Page, we’re running a test for Page admins to create job postings and receive applications from candidates,”. (Reuter, 2016)

Will you be using this feature? Do you think it will be beneficial or just an annoyance for users wanting it to stay as a social platform? We’d love to hear your thoughts…
