Linkedin was the platform where hashtags were a no-no.
Although they have been playing about with the idea of introducing them for a while, they were only on mobile. Well, they showed on desktop, but were completely redundant – so just irritating and not worth using, since we can’t guarantee all users are viewing on mobile.
How it works…
It seems that LinkedIn has brought hashtags in across all devices now. Infact LinkedIn even suggests hashtags you could use in your posts (as you can see below). The idea is that this will help you increase your LinkedIn reach and get your updates in front of people outside your immediate LinkedIn network.
Once you have selected the hashtags you would like you to use, as with other social media platforms, they will then become a hyperlink (as shown below). You can then click on your hashtag and see all the other posts or comments that have used that hashtag.
Even though LinkedIn will give you a whole list of hashtags that could be used, we still recommend that you stick to one or two that are really relevant to your post.
