Emma Pearce had a great experience delivering Alex Polizzi’s marketing vision for The Original Hut Company, for an episode of The Hotel Inspector To The Rescue on Channel 5 (Series 19, Episode 5).
The show aired on 2 May 2024 and sees Emma working with Anna and Nick, owners of this fabulous eco-stay location in Bodiam, East Sussex.
The Hotel Inspector, now in Series 19, sees renowned hotelier and businesswoman, Alex Polizzi, work closely with hospitality venues to identify their key issues and provide a plan of action for overcoming their challenges.
Alex called in Pearce Marketing, as a local marketing company, to support Anna with delivering a number of marketing projects – all completed in super quick time to fit with filming schedules!
The Hotel Inspector Approves
Alex said Emma Pearce’s support was “Brilliant!” and she was thoroughly impressed. (In fact she refers to Emma as her “marketing guru” and just a couple of weeks after the show recommended her to another business.)
Alex loved the new marketing communications materials and signage – all much improved and she was really pleased. The green credentials of The Original Hut Company were now really established.
All the TV crew at TwoFour, along with Alex, Anna and Nick, were a delight to work with.
We had lots of laughs, alongside pulling out all the stops to make a real difference to the shepherd’s hut eco-stay business in a very short timeframe.
Anna said “It was great to get Alex’s insights to improve our operations, as well as her practical advice on finances and balancing family life too. Alex, Emma and I are all busy working mum’s so shared a few stories on the last day of filming!”

Messaging Makeover
The Hotel Inspector’s core instruction was to ensure that Anna and Nick’s two businesses promoted each other:
- The Original Hut Company – with its woodland Shepherd’s Huts and riverside camping and
- The Hub, a fantastic eatery for local visitors and those staying over.
And that all communications really highlighted their unique story, strong sustainability credentials and passion for rewilding the ancient protected woodland.
Plus visitors need clear information about what to expect on their eco-stay to avoid any unexpected surprises that may lead to negative reviews.
So we set to work creating new messaging on The Hub menus, created new table signs with a QR code to direct people to the huts website, developed a new hut information pack, updated the website, social bios and booking emails.
Site Signage – Before
Another important aspect was signage.
The Hotel Inspector wanted us to improve all the signage from a brand, messaging and customer experience point of view.
These pictures show how the signage looked at the entrance to the site and as you approached reception before Alex arrived.
Site Signage – After
We created new roadside signage, plus directional signs for visitors moving around the farm, as well as eco-info signs at certain points around the property too.
And with Anna’s wonderful fun personality, it was great to inject some humour on the signs in the eco-loos too!
These pictures show the new smart look at the roadside and entrance.
Huge thanks to Print Matters for producing these signs for us in superfast time!
“Pearce Marketing has been absolutely brilliant helping me to clarify the message my business is trying to deliver and helping me with flow and user experience around our site. They could identify the areas where their support would add most value within the available budget and work efficiently to deliver on the promises. Thank you so much.”

Book A Stay
If you fancy an authentic eco-stay we highly recommend the gorgeous hand-built Shepherd’s Huts in the woodland. Each with its own fire pit.
The Original Hut Company has sustainability at its core – it is in every part of the business – not just a nod towards it.
You can unplug and relax in nature – blending fun with minimal environmental impact. Perfect.
The camping is also wonderful and everyone can take a river swim, or visit Epic Life to book a paddle board or kayak.
And if you’re just passing through Bodiam – a stop for THE most delicious food at The Hub is a must!
